recover abandoned carts by talking, not email-blasting.

heysteff is an AI platform for customer support and sales across WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Gmail and Shopify; Steff is the AI agent that runs it. For abandoned carts, instead of sending the third generic email nobody opens, Steff writes to the customer on the channel they already used to buy before, resolves whatever question stalled the purchase, and generates checkout right there.

◆ the result

4.2x average recovery when the message arrives on the right channel, at the right moment, with the right person (or agent) on the other end.

How it detects abandonment and picks the right channel

heysteff connects directly to your Shopify store and detects an abandoned checkout the moment it happens, with nobody needing to check a report. Instead of assuming email is the only channel available, it writes on the channel the customer already used to talk to the brand — if they messaged you on WhatsApp before, the reminder lands right there; if the only contact on file is email, that's where it goes.

That channel choice matters more than it seems: a message inside a chat where the customer already had a real conversation reads very differently from one more promotional email in a crowded inbox.

The right incentive, not a generic coupon

Not every abandoned cart is lost over price. Sometimes it's a sizing question, an unanswered shipping question, or the customer simply got distracted. Steff talks before offering a coupon: if the hesitation is about the product, it resolves that; if price really was the blocker, that's when an incentive makes sense, and you decide which one — a discount, free shipping, or a simple reminder that stock is limited.

This avoids the classic problem with automated email blasts, which hand out the same discount to someone who only needed to know if the product had a warranty.

Checkout generated inside the same chat

When the customer confirms they want to go ahead, Steff generates the checkout link with the cart already built and delivers it in the same conversation — no sending them to hunt down the cart again or rebuild it from scratch. Fewer steps between "yes, I want it" and a completed payment.

How we measure the 4.2x average

The 4.2x figure compares cart recovery when the outreach happens through the heysteff conversational agent against passive recovery (no active outreach, or only the ecommerce platform's standard automated email). The full detail of how it's calculated, what it's compared against, and under what conditions, is documented at the methodology page — it's not an unsupported marketing number, it's what we use internally to check whether the agent is actually working.

No spam: frequency caps and opt-out

Cart recovery has configurable frequency limits, so the same customer doesn't get five reminders for five different carts in one day. If a customer asks not to be contacted again, heysteff honors the opt-out for that contact. The goal is to recover the sale by talking, not to lose the customer for good by pushing too hard.

FAQ

Does it spam customers who don't respond?

No. Recovery messages have configurable frequency limits and honor opt-out: if a customer asks not to be contacted again, heysteff stops reaching out about that cart and respects the opt-out.

Does it only work with Shopify?

Automatic abandoned-cart recovery is native to Shopify. For WooCommerce or TiendaNube it connects through the custom tool builder over HTTP APIs and webhooks.

What kind of incentives can it offer?

Whatever you define: a discount, free shipping, a limited-stock reminder, or simply resolving the question that stalled the purchase. The agent picks the message based on the conversation instead of applying the same generic coupon to everyone.

Which plan includes it?

Abandoned-cart recovery is included starting on the Pro plan (1 Shopify store) and on Max (3 Shopify stores). It is not included on the Free or Starter plans.
