heysteff reviews / getting started

from install to your first review.

heysteff Reviews captures reviews by chatting with your customers on WhatsApp after every purchase. This guide walks you step by step from installing the app to seeing the first review published in your store. Everything happens in the dashboard and the theme editor; no code needed.

01

Install the app and pick your workspace

Install heysteff Reviews from the Shopify App Store and approve the permissions. When it finishes, the app asks where you want to work:

  • New workspace: a heysteff workspace dedicated to your store is created, ready to use.
  • Link to an existing workspace: if you already use heysteff, link the store to your current workspace and reviews live alongside your inbox, contacts and channels.
02

Configure the sender and the request message

In the Reviews settings you choose how requests go out:

  • Your own WhatsApp: connect your number to heysteff and requests go out under your identity.
  • Platform sender: if you don't have your own number yet, we use a shared heysteff number that sends on behalf of your store.

Also adjust the request message: the tone, the greeting and how many days after the order it goes out. Email stays available as an alternative channel.

03

Turn on the post-purchase journey or send manual requests

The post-purchase journey is the automatic mode: every delivered order triggers the review request and up to 3 configurable reminders if the customer doesn't answer. Turn it on and forget about it.

If you'd rather start with manual control, from the dashboard you can send requests to specific contacts, to past orders from your store, or to a list you upload via CSV. It's the fastest way to get your first reviews from customers who already bought.

04

Add the blocks in the theme editor

Open the Shopify theme editor (Online Store, Customize) and add the heysteff Reviews blocks:

  • Star badge on the product page, next to the title or the price.
  • Review list, choosing between three layouts: detailed list, mosaic cards or testimonials.
  • Optional: a carousel for your home page and a photo wall with your customers' pictures.

Every block has light, dark or automatic theme options; automatic inherits your store's colors.

05

Moderate and reply from the dashboard

Define auto-publishing by minimum rating: for example, auto-publish 4 and 5 star reviews and review the rest by hand. Anything not auto-published lands in the moderation queue, where you approve or reject it, and you can reply publicly as the seller to show there's someone behind the brand.

06

Measure results

The analytics dashboard shows how many requests went out, how many reviews came in, the average rating and its evolution. In parallel, the app keeps Shopify's standard reviews.rating metafields and the JSON-LD markup up to date, helping Google show your stars in search results.
